Excerpt

Whatever she’d bottled up had come loose. Her appetite met her need, which should have scared him. But for the first time, he wanted her to need him. He could fill he up. She was starving for it.

And so was he.

She was sleeping, and he fell into her rhythm, inhaling when she did, exhaling also in tandem, feeling her soft sex crowning his thigh. He thought of all the lovely things he wanted to say to her, but knew he shouldn’t. He knew the speaking part would mess up what he now felt, something he rarely felt.

Happiness.

He tried to breathe without making a sound, hoping that this time together, which was as precious to him as the love making part, was prolonged for as long as possible. She was fire and ice. The salt and the caramel. She tucked inside the hard exterior of his soul and shivered, rested there under his protection.

He must have twitched or done something, because she startled and rose up quickly, rolling to the side and covering herself up. He could almost feel her heavy thoughts tossing about the room as he viewed her light pink spine glowing in the near moonlight as she sat on the edge of the bed away from him. An inch of her butt crack was in shadow, but the alabaster surface of her skin was flawless and made her look like a statue.

He inhaled without a sound, and let his index finger trace down the middle of her back, traveling over the ridges of her vertebra. She stiffened at first, then rolled her head to the side and killed him with the blue gaze that showed him she was still hungry.

“Come here, Megan,” he said, worried he’d been a little too loud.

She touched her shoulder with her ear in a shy move that belied her real feelings for him. He could see it in the coral shaded corners of her lips, how they quirked up at the ends.

Excerpt

“Miss.” A hand fell on her shoulder. “Are you all right? Do you need help?”
Ryleigh shook her head and kept walking, stepping carefully in the ridiculous pumps she’d chosen that morning. One shoe snagged on something and pulled free of her foot. She kicked off the other shoe and made her way into the corridor.
A crowd was moving one direction, so Ryleigh joined them. Some cried softly as they trudged through piles of debris. Others helped injured co-workers and friends, and some plowed through everyone in their haste to get out. A big man with a crew cut shoved her aside, and when she reached out to steady herself against the wall, she dropped the cloth she’d had pressed against her head.
Her head cleared a little. Okay. She could do this. Though the elevator stood open, the shaft was empty. Everyone bypassed it and entered a stairwell at the end of the corridor. Would Mia try to come up and find her? Goosebumps covered her. No. She would stay where she was or leave. She’d never try to come up. Would she? Adrenaline shot through Ryleigh, and she increased her pace, heedless of her bare feet. She’d only gone down two steps when the world rocked again. Clutching the railing tightly, she pressed her body against the wall as chaos erupted around her.
“Get out of the way…go, go, go…move…here, let me help you…no, wait, don’t move…stop pushing.” Rumbling. Tearing. Screaming. People pushed and shoved. The woman in front of her panicked and tried to run. She fell, and several people tumbled down the stairs in a domino effect. Fragments rained down on them. Holding onto the banister for dear life, Ryleigh crouched and tried to shield her head.

SHADE
by Ketley Allison

Famous boyfriend, penthouse on Park Avenue,
full scholarship and best friend along for the ride?
Awesome.

A smartass drummer boy, dark obsession and a hint of betrayal?

Unexpected.

Murder?

Inevitable.

Charlie Miller’s life in New York City is just getting started.

SIN
by Ketley Allison

Charlie's first love is perfect. He's kindhearted, the sex is great, and he only wants her despite the spotlight that brings him fame. Her life is wonderful, filled with purpose and cushioned by the man of her dreams.

Something is wrong here.

Her instincts are kicking in, telling her that Slade isn't the man she thinks he is, but her heart is at war. She loves him, despite the attraction that sparks between her and Nate, the lonely, magnetic man who has popped into her life solely to piss her off. Slade loves her, despite the bright cameras and hot women and the ongoing pressure to succeed.

Doesn't he love her?

Slade's getting closer to Charlie's new friend, a girl who blushes in his presence and changes face as soon as he leaves. Reagan seems sweet and everyone tells Charlie she's adorable, cute...innocent as an angel. But Charlie's starting to see her differently. Problem is, no one believes her.

Simple jealousy, or a warning of what's to come?

Someone's plotting a murder, and its execution hinges on Charlie's choice. If she turns the wrong way, ignores the right signals, and chooses the wrong man, well...

The ultimate sin will result.

SACRED
by Ketley Allison

Sometimes your first love doesn’t equal your true love.

Jason Sladerman is Charlie’s one. For him, she would adjust to a new city, deal with sudden fame and fandom, and change her life. But never did she think she’d have to tolerate sudden obsession.

Yet that is what Reagan Wescott feels for Charlie’s man. She infiltrated Charlie’s life, made her believe in their friendship, but only to get closer to Slade. Charlie knows, and is finally starting to trust her instincts, that Reagan is manic over him, stalking him, sick over him.

Until the email.

Now Charlie doesn’t know who’s true and who’s false, who loves her and who hates her. Her one true friend, Lara, is too preoccupied with her own love life to notice Charlie’s faltering. Slade’s too involved in proving his innocence to notice the danger. Reagan doesn’t care about anyone but Slade and will do anything to get to him. And Nate wants Charlie so much he turns a blind eye to everything but her.

Their misguided dreams are their greatest mistake. Murder’s on the horizon, and while everyone holds on tight to their sacred wishes, someone uses that chance to sneak by.

And kill.

SUSPECT
by Ketley Allison
“I saw it in his eyes.” I crossed my arms. “They’re going after me. I seriously think I’m their top suspect. Didn’t you see the way they looked at me just now? And the questions. It’s because of the fight. I should’ve called the police!” Fingers tangled in my hair, I strode back and forth. “Why didn’t I press charges when I could? How could I have listened to
you over something like that? And who in God’s name killed? Because it wasn’t me!” I smashed my pointer finger into my chest. “It wasn't me!”

The police have their prime suspect. More importantly, they have motive.

SACRED had you reeling, but SUSPECT will have you desperate to figure out the ultimate truth.

Who snapped?

SURRENDER
by Ketley Allison

“So that’s it? You just never want to see me anymore?”

I want to see you every day. “We can still call each other. I want to help you find answers, I’ll never stop with that. To absolve not only me, but you, too. But that means we have to focus on what’s important, and it’s not this.” I stumbled back when he moved closer still.

“Charlie.”

“Not this,” I repeated.

Truth cannot conquer lies. It can’t prove Charlie’s innocence. It sure as hell doesn’t prevent the police from closing in. With clues that are leading straight to her, the only thing Charlie knows for sure is that no one is without their own sins—including the man she cares about the most.

Will love turn out to be the ultimate distraction? Or will it be the one weapon to shatter perceptions and spare Charlie’s life?

Excerpt

SACRED: Part 4
“I don’t know what to fucking believe anymore.” He laughed. “Tonight blew my mind wide open. So much that—yeah, okay, you picked me. Fabulous. But there’s this…Char, I…” He dug both hands into his hair, scratching. “I don’t know if I want to fight for you anymore.”
My chest was wrenched open. “Slade, no.”
“I’m exhausted. Disturbed. So gutted and miserable. All these weeks I’ve been battling so hard for you, telling myself there’s no love like ours, that we could survive the accusations, Nate putting the moves on you—we could win. But then tonight happened, and…” He held a hand up, examining his swollen, clotted knuckles. “I cracked. I gave up. We’re damaged goods, but do you still believe in us? Do you?”
“I do,” I said, moving closer. “In every moment. Slade, you’re right, we’ve gone through something terrible, but we’re still here. I love you.”
He’d pressed his hands to my cheeks as I spoke. “I misread the situation, and I’m sorry I didn’t run to you first. I should’ve known you’d never…tell it to me again.”
“What?”
“Tell me you love me. That you’ll stay with me no matter what I’ve done.”
“I love you,” I said, on shakier ground. “And it’ll withstand a lot, but explain to me what you mean. What have you done?”
“Not that. I swear.” His fingers dug into my cheekbones. “The lies, though, it sent me spiraling tonight. Someone I tried to help, to be there for, has infested my life.
In that, I understood. But his voice was so unsteady, a vague suggestion of the strength of his usual baritone, that he couldn’t be giving me everything. “Slade, what else happened tonight?”
For a split second he held his breath. Then he said, “I’ve told you everything.”
“You haven’t told me how you got home.” You’ve been a stranger to me tonight. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing.” His hands settled on my shoulders. “It’s in the past. And now we’re not the same people anymore.”
“You talk like we might not come back from this, but you’re wrong. It won’t happen, not if you’re honest with me. Yes, I hesitated; I wasn’t sure if we’d work. I know we’re not perfect. It’s been an exhausting fight. But the last thing I wanted to do was just give up. This relationship deserves all the fight in me before I could ever walk away. And I couldn’t. When everything was said and done, with Nate, with Reagan, I just couldn’t. You’re worth it, Slade. We’re worth it.”
“You are, sweetheart.” He laid his forehead against mine. “But I’m not.”
Slade,” I moaned. My bones slipped out of my skin, and I couldn’t hold myself up anymore. “I don’t understand what you’re saying. Tell me what you mean, what the punches through the walls out there mean, all of it. Please.”

“Charlie.” He clasped my arms, holding me upright. “I wish I could lie to you. I don’t want…please, don’t make me responsible for those tears.” His eyes welled up. “Something happened tonight. Something irreparable. And I can’t—I can’t come back from it.”

Excerpt

Chauncey’s is pretty busy by the time we arrive. With the place being only blocks away from campus, it’s one of the most popular bars, and our favorite hangout spot. Kevin finds a space across the street to park, and we get out, hustling across the street as rain pelts us.
“You know, you look ridiculous wearing those at night.” I point at his sunglasses.
Kevin adjusts his ball cap and stuffs his hands in the pockets of his brown hoodie. “I don’t give a fuck. I’m not in the mood to deal with fans right now.”
Dim lights and the smell of stale beer welcome us as we enter. The groups of college students that frequent here are standing or sitting around in their usual spots. Kevin and I find two empty stools at the bar, near where a bunch of frat guys are playing darts.
“You’re Miss Dee Dee tonight, li’l bro,” Kevin says with a smirk, and then points out the vodka to Olivia, the bartender.
I roll my eyes. It’s an inside joke Kevin and I have whenever we go out and drink. The one who’s named “Miss Dee Dee” first is responsible for driving, so they’re not allowed to get hammered.
“Whatever you say, Miss Daisy,” I say, and order my usual.
Olivia fills three shots and slides them in front of Kevin. He downs the first one in a single gulp, and then winces and hisses through his teeth.
I spin around in my stool so my back’s against the counter and watch the crowd at the dartboard. I recognize a few guys from Xi Rho Nu. The girls watch each guy who takes aim like predators assessing their prey. I look sidelong at Kevin, who quaffs his second shot. “Hey, Kev. You still single?”
Kevin looks up. “What the hell kinda question’s that?”
“An important one, ’cause . . . well, I met this girl at the club the other night, right? Name’s Trinity. Pretty sexy. Thing is, she’s one of Denise’s friends. She knows you and I are brothers.”
“Mmhmm.” Kevin downs his third shot and then signals Olivia to fill up three more.
“She’s cool,” I say. “But I don’t think we’d make a pair, y’know?”
“What? You can’t like her?”
“Not anything more than friends. I mean she already knows I have a thing for Denise. But the moment I mention your name her panties practically drop.”
Kevin smirks. “I tend to have that effect on the honeys.” Three more shots slide his way. He picks one up and tips his head back, emptying shot number four.
“She’s a good girl who’s looking for love, bro. You should talk to her.”
“Naw. I’m done with relationships for a while. Not after the shit I went through with the last one.”
I shake my head. “Seriously, I don’t think she’s anything like that. She’s Denise’s best friend, and from what I’ve seen, Denise doesn’t hang out with skanks like Justine.”
“Justine was worse than a skank.” Shot number five disappears quicker than I can blink.
“Trinity loves the fact that you play basketball,” I say.
“You told her that?”
“Yeah. And she thinks it’s hot.”
“Does she, now?” He traces his thumb across his smiling lips.
“Yup, and she said she wants to watch you play sometime.”
“Play what?”
Basketball!”
He nods absently. Has the vodka already started to kick in?

Excerpt

Somehow I was certain I was no longer in New York. The streets were cobblestone, and the buildings wood and brick. A lot of them were broken down, old and shabby. The alleys were filthy and smelled like shit. Exhausted, I looked for a place to hide but didn’t know where to go. When I couldn’t move another muscle, I hid behind a wooden staircase with my back against the wall and fought not to jump at every sound.
I hadn’t meant to fall asleep, and didn’t know how long I’d slept, but it looked close to mid-morning when I opened my eyes and looked around.
The women walking by were wearing long, full dresses, and big feathered hats. The men’s pants were more form fitting, not the jeans they usually wear. Some of the children running around were barefoot and downright filthy, looking as if they had been rolling in mud or playing with charcoal. I cringed when I saw a boy carrying a rat by the tail. Everything was straight out of a Dickens novel. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see little Dorrit, or Ebenezer Scrooge waltz by any minute now. I rubbed my nose with the palm of my hand. What the hell was I going to do?
This obviously wasn’t real, so I must have fallen in with a role playing community of some sort. My mother and father used to play dungeons and dragons. Maybe this was the same thing, but in the extreme.
Something slammed into my back. I screamed and turned at the sound of a woman yelling at me. The broom in her hand whooshed down again, just missing my face.
“Whoa. Hey, stop!”
What was wrong with these people? I couldn’t understand a word she said, so I ran. She chased me, swinging the broom until I left the alley.
I stopped to catch my breath, smoothed my clothes, and approached a woman in a long brown dress with a white bonnet and black boots. She stared at me like I was some sort of freak. Uh ... she was the freak, not me. Maybe the men would be friendlier, but not one of them would stop. Then I saw the man that crashed into me yesterday across the road. He looked a little different, wearing a brown suit, and an odd piece of material similar to a scarf around his neck, with a top hat. He was actually still attractive in the weird clothes. Dodging carts and vendors, I made a bee-line for him. At least he wouldn’t chase me with a broom.

He reached out with his Wolf senses. The feedback froze his fingers on the doorknob. Female. Damn, she smelled good. Human. Wolf. Wait…both? The copper tang of blood hit his nose. And injured.

He flung open the door. His abrupt move caught his visitor off guard, one small, white fist raised to knock. The woman startled and fell forward. Catching her, he pulled her inside, kicking the door shut with his foot.

She sagged against him, a shivering bundle of wet woman. Underneath the dampness, her scent drop-kicked his gut. Apples and cinnamon. Roses and honey. His body perked up, taking extreme notice. He fought the growl of possession threatening to tear out of his throat. Holy hell, had his potential mate just walked into his home in the middle of a storm?

The scent of her blood jump-started his brain into action. He lowered her gently to the floor. “Jesus. You okay?”

His instincts urged him to check her for wounds, but he was a stranger and didn’t want to spook her. But goddamn, he wanted to touch her. Peel off her wet clothes. See all of her. With a jacket covering her torso, tight jeans hiding her legs, and her ball cap pulled low on her face, all he’d seen so far was her quivering pale chin, full red lips, and those delicate, trembling hands.

“S-s-sorry, d-dripping all ov-v-ver your f-f-floor,” she said, teeth chattering. Her snow white fingers curled on the hardwood, arms trembling with her effort to keep herself upright. Blood streaked the wood. A line of liquid crimson slid down her jaw and dripped from her chin onto her jacket.

To hell with propriety. “You’re injured. Let me help you.” He pulled off her cap and damn near swallowed his tongue.

Big green eyes blinked up at him from a face so pale it made him think of moonlight. Drenched, short black hair lay plastered to her head, the ends framing features reminiscent of the fairies his sister loved to draw for the hidden-object games she designed. Ethereal beauty. My beauty. He stroked a knuckle down her cheek then ran his thumb over her soft, full lower lip.

She flinched and batted his hand away, falling to her side in the process.

Ross snapped back to reality with a healthy hit of guilt. “Shit. Sorry.”

His gaze shot to her forehead where a two-inch cut sent blood trailing over her prominent cheekbone with its silky-smooth skin he’d so enjoyed caressing—

Shit. He gave himself a mental ass kicking for scaring her. “I’m Ross. You’re safe here. Promise.”
