 EXCERPT

A deep vibration rose from his chest. Logan backed me up and the next thing I knew, I was lying on the hood of Justus’s sleek Porsche. What was once a vast collection of exquisite cars was now a collection of three, aside from the Ducati, which he rarely drove.

Logan’s ravenous tongue found a sensitive spot on my neck that made me crave his skin against mine. I slipped my hands beneath his shirt, scratching at his strong back. I loved the way his body felt. The taut muscles along his abs, the baby-fine hair on his arms and legs, the masculine cut of his jaw, and especially right now, the thick press between my legs. The hood of the car dented from our weight and Logan’s heated breath stirred a voice within me that wanted to say “to hell with it” and have sex right on top of my Ghuardian’s one-hundred-thousand-dollar Porsche.

“Wait, Logan. We’re going to mess up his car.”

When his tongue entered my mouth, the complaint was forgotten.

Until the garage door lifted up.

About the Author

This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here's what I can tell you:  I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I'm a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70's to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I'm not writing (which is all the time), I'm hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don't like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I'm not sure which).

Throughout my life, I've had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my "head stories" that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down - creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It's almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I'm a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I've had a few people ask), but I think it's wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don't like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it's what I love to do.

ASIN: B00FDN3RTU

Number of pages:  240
Word Count: approx. 87,000

Book Description:

Raina has tried to forget her past, forget the pain, but when she finds herself staring straight into the fury blazing in her ex-boyfriend's eyes, her dark past comes rushing back. Furious with herself for actually having chosen someone like her father, she uses that anger to her advantage and fights for her life...and for her future that she prays will involve the man she can't seem to get out of her head.

Kas is a natural leader, a fierce fighter, the type of man you send in when you need to get the job done. He is a courageous hero who is used to risking his own life to save others, but can he save the one who has captured his heart from her horrific past and the men who are hell-bent on destroying her?

As Kas and Raina try to navigate through the twists and turns of a deviously intelligent human trafficking group, they find solace in each other's arms. Can they infiltrate the trafficker's tight ring, saving the innocent lives from imminent danger before it's too late?

Excerpt
Kas’ heart pounds through his chest when Raina’s cry tears
him out of his troubled slumber, and he hears something shatter.
Not taking the time to put on his shirt, he runs into the kitchen
and sees Raina kneeling on the floor, cleaning up broken glass
with her bare hands. He is about to tell her to stop when bright red
liquid oozes from her finger as one of the jagged shards slices her,
causing blood to drip onto the floor. Raina looks up just in time to
see Kas quickly coming towards her, and her stomach ties into a
million tight knots.
Kneeling down beside Raina, Kas reaches to grab the towel
from the counter above her. He stops short when she throws her
hand up, turning her head away and squeezing her eyes shut,
instinctively protecting herself from a blow that he would never
have administered.
Rage runs rampant inside of him. He wishes he could maim
the men responsible for causing her to have such an ingrained
defensive reaction.
Kas focuses on reining in his rage, not wanting to scare Raina
anymore than she already is. Sitting back on his heels, he gives
her some space before he tells her in as much of a calming tone
as he can manage at the moment, “You will find out that I’m
not like them. I won’t punish you for having an accident, and I
won’t punish you when you do something wrong or something I
don’t like.” He looks her squarely in the eyes and, with as much
reassurance as he can possibly fit into a glance, he tells her, “I
don’t hit, darlin’.”
Shame and embarrassment darkens her face as she mumbles,
“I’m sorry.”
Kas moves towards her slowly, being careful not to make any
quick movements that could frighten her. He curses under his
breath when he sees that her finger is still bleeding and how she
seems more concerned with trying to clean up the rest of the glass
than taking care of the cut. He bitterly wonders at how severely
her father must have punished her for her to react so quickly and
defensively over something as trivial as a broken glass. “I’m going
to get you a towel for your finger, leave the glass, I’ll get it with the
broom.”
Desperately needing a distraction from her embarrassment of
how she cringed like a cornered rabbit, she continues to pick up
the shards of glass, “I’ve got it.”
Kas makes a mental note to beat the hell out of her father if he
ever finds out who he is. He firmly, but gently, grabs her hand and
wraps the towel around her finger. He hates the way she’s avoiding
his gaze, the way shame has impinged her beautiful eyes. Helping
her stand, he sees the brief flash of pain replace the shame, and he
knows she has hurt herself by kneeling on the floor like that with
broken and cracked ribs.
Gently taking Raina’s finger, Kas places it under the faucet
before grabbing some peroxide out of the cabinet. “This might
sting a bit,” he warns her as he pours some over the cut. Once he’s
satisfied that the bleeding has stopped, and she doesn’t require
stitches, he wraps a band aid around it before slowly bringing her
injured finger to his lips and kissing the tip.
The jolt of electricity from his lips caressing the tip of finger
brings her back to reality, out of the fog of shame where she was
temporarily lost. He said ‘them,’ Raina realizes in a panic. “What
did you mean by ‘them’?”
Kas gazes into Raina’s questioning jade eyes and lets out a
long, slow breath. “I know your father abused you,” he confesses.
Her eyes widen, and she starts to pull her hand away, needing
some distance to absorb this new information, but Kas refuses
to release her. Pulling her closer to him, he runs the back of his
fingers down the side of her face, so pleased and relieved that she
doesn’t flinch this time.
“While you were still in a coma, the doctor ran tests that
showed evidence of abuse,” he starts carefully, gauging her
reaction. Raina lowers her gaze, trying to process just how much
Kas knows, but he tilts her chin back up, to where she can’t look
away, and musters up the courage to finally ask, his voice barely
above a whisper, “What is your real name, Raina?”

A.C. James

Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance

Print: 978-0-9911485-1-6
ASIN:

Number of pages: 307
Word Count: 88K

Cover Artist: Ramona Lockwood

Book Description:

His past holds a secret…

Arie Cush has a secret that he thought he’d left behind. When his past follows him to Chicago he must protect someone that reminds him of all the painful memories he’s tried so hard to forget. But when every touch from her sets his heart and body on fire—he finds it hard to maintain his aloof fa├žade.

That becomes her nightmare.

Holly Ellis has secrets of her own. An encounter with the handsome stranger who frequents her coffee shop reveals a vampire with baggage. Even though it might be more than she bargained for, she can’t resist the one person who understands her. But her life is in danger and a supernatural threat could reveal the underground world of vampires to humankind in this Gothic Cinderella re-telling.

Inside Scoop: This story contains bondage, anal play, a M/F primary romance with mild F/F situations.

Warning: This book is fictitious. The bdsm portrayed in this story does not portray the lifestyle. Vampires will be vampires. They don’t exactly stop to discuss a scene, pain thresholds, and there is no aftercare involved. Trust is an intrinsic part of the lifestyle. Use due diligence and research before deciding to make fiction into reality.

Heat Level: This book is a steamy romance. It’s the development of a romantic relationship that contains more explicit language and sex. The sex is not an inherent part of the story, character growth, or relationship development, and if removed you still have an amazing plot.

Excerpt:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.”
–Holy Bible: King James Version

PREFACE

I never guessed that I could die with a sea of faces surrounding me, all cheering for my death. A woman wearing a jacket dress made of brocade only laughed louder when blood splattered the low square neckline. Where is Arie? I scanned the crowded club but all I could see were pale faces, some half covered by masks.
My time had come and I prayed she would finish me off quickly. The warm trickle of blood ran down my neck and chest, saturating the corset bustier of my gown. It seemed like a shame to ruin such a pretty dress. Strangely, I felt relieved the bodice was black and not a light color that would show a stain.
The fear of dying or more accurately, the fear of not existing, scared me stiff. Perhaps if I had satisfied this existential anxiety with faith I wouldn’t jump from panic to ambivalence. I should be angry at everyone who simply watched. They must think the gruesome display is part of the entertainment for tonight. After the bloody burlesque show I could hardly blame them.
Holly, I gave you the chance to leave. The telepathic transference hardly seemed relevant at this point. I knew if I’d never gone to the Hellfire Club, I wouldn’t be facing death now. Still, if my death meant the killings would stop it seemed justifiable.
“No!” I could barely hear Arie scream above the cheering voices clamoring for attention. The constant drone defies my effort to form coherent thoughts. I looked up and could see him on the balcony. When I blinked he had disappeared into the throng. I could feel the blood continue to trickle down my neck as she drained me. Dizziness threatened to pull me under. The audience applauded her brutality. I crumpled at her feet, looking up at her smile as thin as paper.
Blood. So much blood. My blood.
I didn’t want this to be the story of my death but this part is only a fragment of a narrative as old as time. Its voices fill the shadows with whispers of legend. We are told that the damned cease to exist and those absolved from sin are given eternal life. The damned can never be saved. They walk the earth in an eternal hell. I fear it will be my curse if death doesn’t claim me instead.

Eternal Ever After

by A.C. James

Review by Daria
3 of 5

Two important points 1) vampires don’t sparkle... they dazzle and 2) even vampires have baggage. Arie an ancient vampire finds a human girl that intrigues him. Holly a human girl plus a little more, she can see things that others can’t. She works in a coffee shop and that’s the beginning of where her life changes.

Arie has the yo-yo effect personality, he comes on to holly but says he's bad and she should push him away. He's all up on her, buys her things, has her in his bed.. but again and again tells her how dangerous he is that SHE needs to walk away.

Holly has been through so much I mean foster homes, people afraid of her and thinking she is a freak. Meeting Arie, she constantly shows her bitchy side.

They both seem to be fighting each other. He emotionally turns Holly to the side and Holly keeps coming back. Not only does Arie's past comes to the present, so does Holly's.

If you take away all the back and forth leave me, please stay, I need you.  The story line isn’t bad and the danger element was fun to read, ( I think they allowed Katarina too much time to wreak havoc). A sweet love story, the characters weren’t that strong, neither Arie or Holly ( I did like Tess). The sex scenes were pretty good, even without the bits of BDSM.

The way I interpreted that both Arie and Holly set me off the story, for me they just lacked backbone. It was a very long story to get to the meat of the plot. It wasn’t “bad” read, though with the whole flow of the book, the ending made me want to smack someone. So try it and enjoy it. I am interested in seeing others reviews.

This book was provided free of charge as part of the tour for an honest review.

EXCERPT

“You called me innocent back there in that parking lot. I dressed conservatively that summer because I was supposed to. You thought I was some kid who had just fallen off the turnip truck?” Elise stepped forward. From the rise and fall of his chest, his breath had deepened, and she struggled to keep her focus on his hard, dark eyes. Still a little beer buzzed, she put herself up in his face and laid it all on the line. “You tried to protect me because you’d heard rumors about Scarborough? What about the rumors I heard about you?”
His jaw hardened.
“What, you thought I wouldn’t have heard? Every woman at HaleStorm with a pulse and proper vision had your name written on their vibrators.”
This time she ignored the warning from her shoes when she clicked forward. “I didn’t let those rumors stop me, either. I’d been trying damn hard to get your attention that summer.”
He didn't move except to blink. “The trouble with rumors is they're half-true at best if true at all.” Then he did move, pressing into her space.
She hardened her gaze and met his stare, but there in the dim light of his apartment his eyes had turned the color of dark amber. And holy cow, those lashes could make any supermodel cry with envy. “Okay,” she said. “So what's your truth?”
His fingers danced up and down her spine, setting off shivers all over the place. He bent toward her, his stubble scraping her cheek. “The truth is, you were probably right when you said that this was a bad idea.”
She had said that, hadn’t she? His palm skimmed her waist and she damned herself for being sensible. “That… that probably is true.”
“And.” The heat of his hands and his breath licked along her neck and shoulders. Maybe she should have worn her coat over. “You have no idea what’s fact and what’s fiction about me.”
What Elise did know was the way he touched her now might well fry her brain. She needed to back away while she still had some semblance of her dignity. She managed one step. “Maybe I don't. My point is, neither do you.”
Other than a slight raise of his eyebrows, he didn't reply. Fine. Well, about that whole leaving with her dignity intact plan….
Another step. “Whatever. Thank you for trying to protect me. It was a misguided, unnecessary effort, but thank you for being concerned.” Finally, with a clench of fists and a huff of breath, she turned on her throbbing heel and stormed for the door.

About the Author

Elisabeth Staab still lives with her nose in a book and at least one foot in an imaginary world. She believes that all kinds of safe and sane love should be celebrated but she adores the fantasy-filled realm of paranormal romance the best. She lives in the Washington DC area with her family and one big scaredy cat, where she loves to spend time with good friends, go dancing, collect wacky coffee mugs from which to drink her favorite beverage, and sing off-key in her kitchen (when she isn’t making characters fall in love, that is).

Excerpt

It is amazing how the most world-changing days can seem entirely mundane to begin with. Friday the 13th seemed no different than any other day to me. I woke up late, as always, and rushed to get dressed and make it to the car with my usual box of animal crackers and diet cola. I pulled my shoes on as I backed out of the driveway and ate while I drove to work.

I was late to work, but just early enough to not be noticed as late. The small hospital where I worked was a blip in a vast nowhere and the small psychiatric floor I worked on was a blip in a blip. I was a blip within a blip within a blip, making me practically nothing. I could’ve died in my sleep and the world would barely belch. I liked to think that I was good at what I did. I liked to think that even though I was a nothing, I made a difference in the patients’ lives. I was one of those deluded people that believed in saving the world one person at a time. I guess I still am. Certainly, I was one of the few people that actually cared about the patients. The management didn’t care that I cared. Management was too busy trying to balance the books and keep the floor profitable to care what the staff did with the patients. I could take all the patients outside and have them moo like cows and management wouldn’t care as long as I billed it as a recreational therapy group and got the proper reimbursement.
